Hawaii

Hawaii…..a dream come true.

For 10 years now we’ve dreamed of travelling to Hawaii together. This past summer we celebrated our 10th anniversary and on that day we booked our trip! We chose Kauai because of the simplicity of it. We prefer to be in nature and getting off the beaten road.

Kauai is rustic, simple and quaint. The island is quite small and the people we met were all very kind and helpful. The island is so lush and everywhere you go, you are surrounded by beauty. There is a law in place that the buildings can only be a certain height so that they don’t block the beautiful view. The speed limit never goes above 50mph. It’s a nice slow, quiet, pace there. You rarely hear horns honking.

We decided to bring our kids along and we are so glad that we did. There were so many things for families to do there. Our kids love to explore and were great sports checking everything new out. We stayed at a lovely place where we could cook our own meals and get into a good routine for the kiddo’s. Our resort was perfect for small children. There was a sand bottom pool they could wade into, 2 small slides that they loved to play on, a perfect temperature hot tub just for them, an area with fish that they could go feed and it was right on the ocean. Numerous days we had seals come up on shore that we could see and from our lanai we spotted tons of whales. Truly amazing right? What a dream world.

We had 12 nights to enjoy this paradise and coming home we definitely felt like we had the chance to completely unwind. Being by the water is so soothing and refreshing to me. I loved just sitting by the ocean and watching the waves crash in. Gemma and Nolan played in the sand for hours.

My parents came with us too which was so super great. My dad came for 6 days and my mom stayed the whole time. We loved having them there with us. Mom watched the kids for us a few times so we could do some crazy hikes and kayak adventures together. It was wonderful!

If you’ve been to Kauai before, hopefully this brings back many awesome memories. If you’ve never been, I definitely recommend going. So peaceful and a great place for families.

This one doesn’t go too far without her baby….I snuck out with my parents one morning to do a mini session of them on the beach. Love these two. They have taught me so much and are constantly giving more and more of themselves. I guess parenting never ends! Thanks for being so awesome and for loving so unselfishly. We are so happy that you could come with us!This was the start of our hike on the Hanakapiai Trail. We thought we’d take this photo for our moms. haha.

Everywhere you went in Kauai there were roosters. Roosters, Roosters and more roosters…
