hmmmm what 2 wear???

This is a VERY popular question that I get all the time! So I thought I should do a little diddie here about it.

First off, I want you to be YOU. I want you to feel comfortable in what you are wearing. If you feel uncomfortable then you will most likely have a hard time relaxing and then have an even harder time looking comfortable. So don’t try to be someone else. BE YOU…but just be creative with who YOU are.

In November Davo and I headed to the east coast for a little vacay. While we were there we met up with my girlfriend Rachel from Rachel Peters Photography. Davo and I hadn’t had photos done since our wedding almost 7 years ago now. (Thats pretty bad for a photographer) But I was a little picky in who I wanted to do them. When we decided to head to PEI…I was certain that Rach was the girl for the job! Wanting to do something fun and sorta vintage we headed to value village. With very little time and a bit of creativity we hit the racks. (Thanks to Rachel for documenting this little trip)

So needless to say 45 minutes later and $30.00 total we got new outfits for our photo session.

Point #2 You don’t need to break the bank for your outfits for your photo session. Head to a girlfriends and borrow something or hit up some thrift stores to get some good finds.

Here are some shots of our final outfits all put together.

Point #3 You don’t have to be matchy matchy! Ex: jeans and black shirt. A little personality in your outfits will go a long way. Choose complimentary colors and patterns. Notice pattern in Davo’s tie, then the rest is plain. We found the tie and then worked from there. Don’t go too overboard with patterns.

Point #4 Stay away from large logos. (this can date the photo very quickly)

Point #5 I LOVE accessories!! Cute shoes, scarves, hats, earings, neclaces! Okay maybe don’t go overboard with all of these things… But pick a couple and it will add some fun punch to your photos.

Point #6 What do you want your photos to look like? Vintage? Classy? Modern? Playful? Pick a theme and then that will help you determine your outfits.

Point #7 A huge difference in photos for women is make up. Having your make up done goes a LONG way. Take some extra time to do your make-up or have someone do it for you and it will for sure make a big difference. Just a bit of make up enhances your features and makes your eyes POP in the photos.
